Hello, my name is Kim, 51 years old and I was diagnosed with RA two years ago. I am on hydroxy and methotrexate (tabs) but recently got put on Enbrel injections. I would be interested to hear other members experience with Enbrel and whether it helped or not. Also I am really suffering with acid indigestion this week. Is that a coincidence or side-effect? Remedies? (Ask my doctor I guess?) Thanks for listening

Hi Kim I can't comment on Enbrel but gastric upset is common with MTX. You probably need an antacid so it's off to the GP you need to go. Paul Barrett

Hi Kim, I'm on anti-TNF treatment, but I take humira. I've never been on enbrel, so can't advise, I'm afraid. I don't know if you take any anti- inflammatories, but they can cause heartburn, especially if you are not taking a stomach protector, such as Omeprazole. Hope things settle for you soon, Kathleen x

Hello Kim I'm on enbrel. It works it's magic, I'm not at the stage cartwheels but am such a lot more mobile now. I take same meds as you and sulfazalazine and the tummy settler that Kathleen has mentioned. Also post knee replacement but walk unaided without sticks anymore I've started to go dog walking again, I'm not in remission but happy where life has got me in relation to the anti tnf meds. Not bad for a 41 year old Could be worse. Jane XXXX

Hi Kim Enbrel was the best drug I have ever taken, it got me out of a wheelchair in 2005. It took a while to kick in, about 12 weeks. I was on it 8 years and had to come off it this year because my CRP kept fluctuating. I had no side effects, it really changed my life. Best of luck with the Enbrel, hope it works its magic for you. Best wishes Rebecca

Hello Kim
I'm on Enbrel, been on it just over a year now, I felt the benefit the next day.
I saw my consultant the following February and was told that I was in clinical remission. I have the odd wobble here and there but I am still doing well on it and am still in remission. Since weaning myself of steroids January this year I have not taken any pain relief at all.
I have done an Enbrel blog in the blog section, you may find it interesting to read.
I was told by my consultant that Enbrel has less side effects than other anti tnfs, something to do with antibodies. All I know is it is a miracle drug for me. I call in my magic potion.
I will bump up my thread for you.
Just wondering do you take any sort of stomach protectors?
Take Care Paula x

Hi Jane, thank you so much for your reply and sorry I am so late replying but I hadn't been on-line. I am so glad Enbrel worked for you, that's amazing. And I hope you continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you for sharing your experience with me xx

Hi Rebecca, again, thank you for your reply and apologies for my late one. I am sorry you could not carry on with Enbrel but it is very encouraging to read how well it worked for you while you were on it. I have only been taking it for three weeks so we shall see what happens. Thanks again and take care. Kim

Hi Paula, Thank you for responding to my question about Enbrel and I am so glad it worked so well for you, that's great! And the fact that you don't even need any pain relief is amazing :) I will see if I can find your Enbrel blog, thank you for telling me about it. No I am not taking any stomach protectors. My acid seems to have settled down now. I was a little nervous about starting Enbrel, not because of the needle part but because of any side effects. So that's good to hear that you have heard that Enbrel seems to have less side effects than other anti tnfs. But I guess if it does the job that's all that matters hey. I will let you know how I get on. Going to look for your blog now. Thank you! Kim x

Just read your blogs Paula and Jane. They were both really good, informative and uplifting and it was so nice (if you know what I mean) to know you are not alone and you are not going loopy. The thing I've found about this illness is you tend to just get on with things and not like to moan to people about how bad you feel. I don't like things to beat me and I probably should do less but while I can still do things then I will. Thanks for being an inspiration ladies! xxx

Hello Kim Glad you had a look at our blogs! What my aim is to be honest with the challenges of ra, everyone is different and I am aware of feelings & at the same time not to scare or upset anyone Ra is a cruel illness and has taught me that I'm not a failure in asking for help! I'm still an independant cookie Also being a parent I want to enjoy the usual things other parents experience like days out. Maybe one day my body will laugh at me and refuse to behave but now I'm I'm in control lol!!! Any questions....just feel free to ask. Jane Xxxx
